Sitemeter - Internet Explorer Error

 Sitemeter - Internet Explorer Error

Web sites that use SiteMeter to monitor the number of visitors to their site are reporting that the code is causing Internet Explorer browsers to crash when users visit their sites.  The problem appears to be affecting IE 5.5 - 6.0 and 7.0. Internet surfers using IE to access a site that has SiteMeter tracking it receive a message saying the site cannot be loaded and operation aborted.

My issues seem to have begun late afternoon Friday August 1st 2008.  As of August 2, 2008 the problem was still affecting my blog so the Sitemeter code was removed and immediately restored my blog back to working order. SiteMeter has not posted any announcement on its web site, there was no mention of this error other than a posting on Sitemeter Blog about updating their servers and databases.

If you are looking for a free tool to monitor your website or blog activity another good choice is Stat Counter the two programs a very similar.
